Pentax K 30

OK I'm convinced (sort of) this is the latest camera.

Are there anymore images of it, other than the single 2/3rds front view?

Until the full allround views are available we don't know what it's capable of.

Any thing from Chris at SRS?
Cheers, HG

K110+DA40, K200+DA35, K3 and a bag of lenses, bodies and other bits.

Mustn't forget the Zenits, or folders, or...

PPG entries.

I think the green button position is a result of feedback. Looks like a good spot to me. I'm always pressing the AF rather than the green button on the K7.

No top LCD I don't like, the rest of the camera seems good. Maybe they've got a new battery to hold charge longer with the extra resources required.*
I'd probably go for a used K-5 instead.

Huh, I followed that Amazon link, to see three K30s listed, but clicking on any displayed a 404 error.

I refreshed the link, and the K30s were gone. Must have taken them down in the past 5 minutes. Ah well.

Gone, all gone.

What is happening, are Pentax aware of what's going on or did Amazon make a mistake by listing too early?

This is worse than the previous releases!

I like it.

Thankfully. K-01 is one of the most ugliest cameras I've ever seen

No doubt Amazon were a little early. I'm sure that other suppliers are already preparing their web pages so that on the release date they just push the button.

It has however given an intriguing glimpse to those who were quick enough off the mark.

LOL.

It looks a bit 'clumpy' to me, but always nice to see a new model. Not sure why you would want the successor to the elegantly compact and unassuming K5, to be physical bigger unless you really feel 'inadequate' standing next to a top end Canikon. The K5's size is a great little niche Pentax have created IMO, hope it continues, particularly with the FF model when it comes out

If this is in any way comparable to the K5 yet takes standard AA batteries - I suspect this will be the logical upgrade for my K-x. I've been lusting after the K5 for some time now but I really value the easily-available AA batteries (without the need for an additional bulky grip).

I'm confused though - the K30 lists 4FPS. Perhaps I misunderstand this but this would imply the K-x is actually faster (@4.7)?

For the last few months I was thinking my investment in Pentax lenses was perhaps a poor decision due to lack of future upgrade path; this is fantastic news

Actually the camera's looks are growing on me. I wasn't that that keen on what they've done with the logo, but it looks great in white.

The normal typeface on the K looks better than the 1980s looking outlined text in the photo from the French catalogue here too.

sort of looks like it could be a hinge for a flip out lcd...

Compare the K30 lettering on this one to the lettering on the one here: link

preproduction models and or photoshop jobs... maybe... but those ferrari style fins... if the body is all metal, then those would be cooling fins for video recording....
that would also mean this is the k-05 replacement.. and that 3 more camera models are coming..
a cheaper k-01 that is more mainstream styled possibly with evf..
a kr replacement... similar to the k30 but perhaps one dial wheel and no wr...and more plastic.. styled and build quality more like the kr
and the fabled 24 mp ff pro model (would explain the slower frame rates on this k30... spec'd to not gut sales from the upcomming pro model)
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Having just got a K5 to replace my KR my main interest is a healthy year ahead with more lenses and accessories to follow the continued success of the K mount range.
